Jocanima in Action: CPS Idols? In the Making?

March 8th, 2010

Four vacant positions, a dozen of applications – Who will be selected to be part of the JC General Trade team?

In the effort to hire the crème de la crème among the dozens of applicants for the Crop Protection Specialist positions, a weeklong intensive in-house training and selection process was conducted by the JC National Sales Manager Eric Flores, Product Development Supervisor Jojo Mora and the Product Development Executive Roy Dapon.  The activity which resembled the culling process from Big Brother TV series was held at the JC Davao Depot and hands-on field promotions in Mlang, North Cotabato from January 21 to January 28, 2010.

The training program which started with the technical orientation covering the basics of agrochemicals, rice, mango and vegetable production and their corresponding crop protection schemes. A written exam was conducted to measure the competencies learned in the first phase of the program. Three days pass and four trainees fell short of standards in the first phase – in short, they were eliminated. The lucky 8 survives the cut and then proceeded to the second phase.

The second phase is the field deployment where actual field performance was tested – setting of farmer’s meeting, implementation of the meeting, spot demonstrations and kapehan, big land owners and financiers visit – to name a few of the activities. Each of the lucky 8 were observed, assessed and evaluated. The deliberation of the top 4 contenders was based on the judgment cast by the distributors/dealers who witnessed the events plus their actual graded performance by the trainors. After another three days, another cut was made and the Top 4 Crop Protection Specialists were named. They are: Mr. Denver Pagmanua from Lower Valley, South Cotabato; Mr. Editho Lizada Jr. from Upper Valley South Cotabato/Sultan Kudarat; Mr Wilson Reponte Jr. from PALMA Area, North Cotabato and Mr. Bernon Notorio from Lower Davao Del Sur.  The four CPS officially joined the GT team on February 1.

Congratulations and Welcome to our new breed of CPS!
