Jocanima Corporation Celebrates Christmas 2011

January 9th, 2012

JOCANIMA Corporation (JC) held its annual Christmas Party Celebration with the theme – “Anything Goes!” at the Penthouse Floor of JC’s Las Piñas office.

Following this year’s theme, employees anxiously wait for the motif chosen by the other departments: the HR and RAPD teams arrived in their Cowboy / Cowgirl attire; the Business Development & Strategic Projects and Sales & Marketing group emulated Bruno Mars with his signature fedora hat and checkered vest; the Finance and Accounting unit arrived in their The Nativity-inspired costume; the IT / Logistics and Purchasing team imitated Tom Cruise’s pants-less Risky Business character, Joel Goodson; and the ECVPI group in their all-black, goth fashion.

The event started with a doxology sung by Accounting Assistant, Ms. Marithel Dayao and Advertising & Promotions Associate, Mr. Bernard Doctor, who performed their own rendition of “Ang Aking Dasal.” The JC employees then sang the infamous “Ang Pasko ay Sumapit,” followed by the newbies’ presentation.

Plantation SVP, Mr. Joel Laserna gave the opening remarks. It was then followed by the annual State of the Company Address (SOCA) from JC President & CEO, Mr. Celso Evangelista. In his message, Mr. Evangelista, once again, emphasized the importance of having initiative.

After dinner, the program resumed with the hosts discussing the criteria for judging of the departmental competition and the group presentation, themed Battle of the Sexes. Marianne Joyce Evangelista, Ms. Nina Evangelista and Mrs. Malou Laserna comprised the board of judges.

The ladies began the battle with ECVPI’s Plants vs. Zombadings presentation and their own version of the Michael Jackson hit, “Thriller.” The JC ladies then showed off their dancing prowess via a dance medley. The Male group’s presentation immediately followed via JC Novela, a creative fusion of local and foreign TV soaps such as Green Rose, Meteor Garden, Boys Over Flowers and Budoy. The production was under the direction of Sales & Marketing Assistant, Mr. Jefferson Sotto.

The most awaited part of the event is the raffle. Cash prizes, gift certificates, grocery items, home appliances and gadgets were raffled off to the employees. This year’s grand prizes, a Blackberry 8520 Curve and a 26” DeVant LED TV, were won by Mr. Doctor and HR Assistant, Ms. Emalyn Racho respectively.

A game of “JC Henyo” followed, which was won by the pair of Ms. Racho and ECVPI’s Regulatory Affairs Assistant, Ms. Geraldine Nor Gueriña.

The presentation of JC pins by Finance & Administration SVP, Mrs. Josefina Evangelista to the new hires was another highlight of the event as it formally welcomes the newbies to the ever-growing family of JC.

The Battle of the Sexes was won by the male group. Thanks to the convincing performance of Accounting Assistant, Mr. Reynor Villasotto as Budoy. The departmental competition was won by the IT, Logistics and Purchasing team for being the “best dressed group” in the party, though they seemed to be incompletely dressed.

After the awarding rites, Mrs. Evangelista gave her closing remarks. JC mat pillows were also distributed to all the employees.

While it is true that the company faced a lot of challenges this year, the JC family proved to be a merry example of what Christmas truly means, that is, “giving thanks.” Merry Christmas and A Prosperous New Year everyone!

A Decade of Excellence

August 2nd, 2011

LAS PIÑAS CITY, PHILIPPINES – JOCANIMA Corporation (JC), one of the country’s leading providers of quality agrochemicals nationwide, celebrated its 10th Year Anniversary at the Penthouse of the JC Main office in Las Piñas City last July 26.

A thanksgiving mass officiated by Monsignor Roberto Guiuan, marked the beginning of the celebration. In his opening remarks, JC’s President and CEO, Mr. Celso Evangelista, emphasized on the idea of “looking beyond the present and helping one another to realize the goals of the company.” The speech was immediately followed by ceremonial cutting of cake led by Mr. Evangelista and SVP for HR and Finance, Mrs. Josefina Evangelista.

Of course, any JC celebration won’t be complete without a salu-salo amongst the JC Las Piñas and ECVPI employees. An audio-visual presentation, created by HR Assistants Jerome Zorilla and Jhunie May De Torres and IT Assistant Eleazar Ycay, was also played. This elicited a lot of wide grins amongst the employees, especially those who have been a part of the JC family for more than three years or so.

After the sumptuous meal, select employees were asked to share their funniest JC encounters, experiences and stories via “Laglagan Time” – the celebration’s most hilarious highlight.

To add excitement to the festivity, the HR department also raffled off JC items and other exciting goodies to employees.

The celebration ended with a few wise words from SVP, Josie Evangelista. It was indeed a fitting celebration to commemorate JOCANIMA’s first ten years of success!
